Audio Visual Responses

Harlem Cowboy Response

In the story Harlem Cowboy, a comedian visits a small town in Oregon. On his visit, he is out of his element regarding his race, but he still enjoys himself. He discovers that the stereotypes he believed about country people weren't true; and they also learned the same about him. He experienced how kind and caring they were when he visited during 9/11. The town was so concerned for him and his family that they shut down the rodeo, until he could get in contact with his family back in New York. He now visits every year, and considers them family.

Response to Wonder Woman
In the story Wonder Woman, Zora explains her life wanting to be a super hero. She had a reoccurring dream that a magic ball(which she has tattooed on her arm) gives her super powers. She was so infatuated by the idea, she devoted her time to learning skills such as car driving tricks, surviving in the wilderness, haunting animals, and doing things Indiana Jones would do. Graduating from high school at fifteen; she didn't make time for friends, boys, or a social life. She made lists, that improved and altered on what she would learn next, her deadline to learn it all was at age twenty two. To put her skills to good use, she decided to be a CIA agent. Sadly, she wasn't approved. She then decided to remake herself, realizing everything she had worked for was virtually for nothing; she moved her career in a different direction, and became a private investigator. She is now happy with her work, although she still continues her lists, she does not take them as seriously.
Mosh by Marshall Mathers and performed by Eminem:

In the video Mosh, there was a lot of war symbolism. It was also very clear that the artist did not approve of Bush's role as a president, and did not respect his decision in sending American troops to war in Afghanistan. The dominant message was that we, the people need to stand up and protest our beliefs. It showed how the decisions of our former president Bush has made despair in the lives of innocent people. In the video the "victims"' of Bush wore a black hoody and marched/moshed together to stand up and provide a change and hope for the people.

1 Trillion Dollars by Justin Sane and performed by Anti-Flag:

In the production 1 trillion dollars it symbolized American greed. It showed what our country, and people in general would do for money.  In the video a child signed her life away for a trillion dollars and was killed. I believe this symbolized how people are willing to give their life for money. Also the phrase "F*** the world, a lot of people gotta die tonight....F*** the world" symbolizes how people lose sight of the people they care about and the important things in life. While they are getting money and power they don't care who they hurt while they are doing it.
